Fun first look at Ant Man and The Wasp!

Ant Man and The Wasp trailer is finally here guys! Here's the synopsis so far:

From the Marvel Cinematic Universe comes Ant-Man and The Wasp, a new chapter featuring heroes with the astonishing ability to shrink. In the aftermath of Captain America: Civil War, Scott Lang grapples with the consequences of his choices as both a super hero and a father. As he struggles to rebalance his life with his responsibilities as Ant-Man, he’s confronted by Hope van Dyne and Dr. Hank Pym with an urgent new mission. Scott must once again put on the suit and learn to fight alongside the Wasp as the team works together to uncover secrets from the past.

So what do we learn in this trailer?

This trailer gives us our first look at 'criminal on the run' movie. It looks like it has the same tone as the first movie which is a good thing I would say, considering the fact that it worked so well both critically and in the box office. It looks like the sequel will continue right after the events of Captain America: Civil War.

Hank Pym (Michael Douglas) and Hope Pym (Evangeline Lily) both blame Scott (Paul Rudd) for the fact that they are now being chased by the government after the events of CA: Civil War. In case you forgot, at the end of that film, Ant-Man is held by the government along with Hawkeye, Falcon, and Scarlet Witch. My guess is that Steve Rogers release them from the underwater prison but eventually the government did picked him up at one time and issued a house arrest.

We also get our fist look at The Wasp in action. I really like that we get to see more of her than Ant Man. It really shows that Disney/Marvel has faith in her character to pull audience to the theaters. Considering the fact that her name is in the title card (fun fact: the fist marvel movie with female superhero in the title) I really wanted to see her kick some ass.

The Wasp catching her breath after a fight

But I was kinda suprised to see Lawrence Fishburne in this movie. I know that he's working with Marvel for some time but I didn't know it's for this movie. Apparently he plays Bill Foster (a.ka Goliath in the comic books) a scientist that works with Hank Pym and Scott Lang in perfecting their atomic technology.

Lawrence Fishburne staring dramatically at someone. Or something? I don't know he probably just farted and got suprised with the smell.

We got a glimpse of Michael Peña too (which is good, his scenes in the first Ant-Man are my favourite) but no Michelle Pfeiffer though. Probably she's hiding in one of those Negative zone. We saw the Negative zone before in Ant Man and briefly in Dr. Strange. It looks like someone having a road trip in search for her!

Somekind of vehicle wandering around 'The Negative Zone' amidst the creatures that looks a lot like Tardigrade - an 8 legged micro creature. Yes kids, I used to go to school learning sciency stuff; what a suprise..

The trailer also gives a quick tease on Ghost (played by Hannah John-Kamen). In the comics , Ghost is actually a male character and a lead hacker that can make himself invisible and phase through objects. The comic book version uses his power to attack and brings down corporations. I wonder if Ghost is working with Hydra in this movie. Gotta say, she looks kinda cool with those space-themed outfit. Reminds me of Will Smith's After Earth suit.

Ghost looking menacing.

Is the trailer any good?

Well It's not as good as the Avengers: Infinity War Trailer but it's a fun teaser never the less. Though to be honest it's not fair comparing those two because the stakes are obviously much higher in A:IW.

Full disclosure, I love the first Ant-Man movie.. it worked as a comedic heist film. I consider this clip not so much as a trailer.. but more of a teaser. Remember, we got two marvel movies before this movie comes out so yeah.. they pretty much held things to their chest in this one.

What worries me is that the first Ant-Man is probably more of Edgar Wright's movie than Peyton Reed since he worked on that movie for years before he left the project due to creative difference with Marvel. So honestly, I am hopeful that Peyton Reed will do this film justice and not lose the 'Edgar Wright vibe' that we got to see in the prequel. Come on guys, that Michael Peña flashback scene? I'm telling you that's all Edgar Wright man..
